2 crashes in 2 days in 2 races I had the potential and opportunity to win. My road bike is totaled, and I’m doing similarly poorly. The photo captions on Cyclingnews for Saturday make it sound like I overstarted and blew up, when instead I was sitting second wheel, hit a rock, flatted, crashed in the turn, rode 1/2 lap on the flat, and chased my way back up to 10th. On Sunday I was on Hilton Clarke’s wheel in the first 5 or 6 guys, coasting through the first turn on the final lap, and then next thing I know someone’s going across my front wheel and I was on the ground. I never even saw who or what took me down. $10,000 to win, less than a lap to go, and there I was, flat on my back with a bike that looked like I had been hit by a car.

Vegas tomorrow, regardless. Struggling to keep it together right now.
