Cycle-Smart Tucson Training Camp
Tucson, AZ February 18th – 25th, 2007
Now in it’s fourth year, the Cycle-Smart Training Camp will bring together Cycle-Smart coaches and clients as we recreate the experience of a professional team camp on the desert roads of Tucson, AZ. In our 8-day camp, we’ll train in groups on some of Tucson’s finest roads, getting in some great early-season miles as well as one-on-one coaching from Cycle-Smart coaches.
Tucson offers an exceptional climate for winter training, as well as varied terrain from broad, flat roads to epic climbs. With Cycle-Smart staff based in Tucson from January onward, we’ll have an intimate knowledge of the area at our disposal for Training Camp.
We'll follow a traditional Cycle-Smart training week, with sprints, threshold work, and endurance days, with most evenings free to explore the area. On some evenings, there will be short coaching and Q & A sessions with the Cycle-Smart coaching staff, and coaches will also be available for bike fittings over the course of the week. A mechanic will be on hand for the duration of the camp, and a support vehicle will accompany all of the rides. We are currently trying to secure a massage therapist for the week, which will be included in the price.
Lodging/Travel: Camp attendees should travel into Tucson or Phoenix. Transportation from Tucson International Airport will be provided. The host hotel is the Crossland Economy Studios Tucson - Butterfield Drive. Each attendee will have their own room, with facilities for cooking.
Pricing: Price for the camp is $1500 per person, and includes coaching, bike-fitting services, transportation from Tucson International Airport to the host hotel, and lodging. It does not include meals of airfare. Register on-line at Bikereg.com.
Additional Info: Riders should be capable of riding in a 2-abreast training group, and maintaining a 16-20 mph training tempo for 2-6 hours. Each ride will be split at some point into 2 groups to accommodate different fitness and ability levels. Riders should have at least a month of base training completed, and should plan on this being an overload week, with a rest week to follow.
