Jacob grew up in West Virginia, mountain biking in the rural foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. His competitive racing began at age 13, traveling West Virginia participating in the state points series. This evolved to a successful junior road racing career.
He quickly advanced through the amateur ranks and signed his first professional road contract with Zaxby’s Cycling Team at the age of 22. Jacob spent his Neo-Pro year traveling the country with Zaxby’s competing in the NRC races highlighted by the San Francisco Grand Prix and the US Pro Championships.
Jacob’s passion for road racing led him to a 2002 European season racing for ABC-Aitos and doing select races for the US National Team. In 2003 he raced professionally again in the US on the road for the West Virginia Cycling Team and on the mountain bike for the Bon Jovi Racing Team. 2004 was a year in which he focused solely on mountain bike racing. For 2005 he raced part-time on a development team before turning pro again in 2006 for the NERAC-Outdoor Lights Pro Cycling Team.
Since then, Jacob has turned all his energy to coaching, and passing his vast European and domestic knowledge of racing on to a limited number of clients per year. He works with a variety of athletes including road, mountain, ‘cross, tri, enduro and moto, helping them attain their goals.
Today, Jacob resides in Spencer, West Virginia.
